The Castle School Computing Hub

The Castle School is delighted to have been awarded official Computing Hub status by the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE), in order to provide support for primary and secondary computing teachers in schools in the area.

The Castle School is part of a network of Computing Hubs across England and will be a focal point for local computing training for schools, and will also form links with industry and universities. The NCCE was set up in November 2018 by the Department for Education to increase the number of pupils in schools and colleges who study computer science at GCSE, AS and A level, particularly girls and those in disadvantaged areas, and to ensure that there is a strong pipeline of digital skills in England.

‘A high-quality computing education equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. Computing has deep links with mathematics, science and design and technology, and provides insights into both natural and artificial systems’ Statutory guidance, National Curriculum in England: Computing Programmes of Study

The Castle School Computing Hub delivers Computing CPD to teachers with differing levels of expertise in Computer Science. Whether you are a Computer Science teacher in need of a refresher, a non-specialist teacher that has been tasked to support Computer Science delivery in your school or a teacher that is interested in improving Computer Science provision across the key stages, we have a course that can support your learning and confidence in teaching.

We're proud that Somerset schools are already implementing the NCCE Computing Curriculum through our hub.  Our flyers below contain our current offers of CPD, which enable teachers to deliver the NCCE Computing Curriculum.
